BitTorrent [BTT], the popular P2P torrent client has launched BitTorrent Speed, its download optimization software. The launch is done with a native token functionality. The news was divulged in an official press release published on July 8.

Notably, the Bittorrent Speed software will now be incorporated into all new downloads of the µTorrent Classic Windows client, according to the press release.

The BitTorrent Speed website divulges that users will be rewarded with BTT tokens in exchange for bandwidth and seeding. Longer they seed the files, more the tokens will be earned by the user. Also, the more BTT they are willing to spend, the faster the downloads they can attain. Furthermore, an integrated cryptocurrency wallet has been launched to assist consumers to manage their crypto earnings.

It is to be noted that the product remains limited to Windows systems only, at the time of launch. However, apparently there are plans to broaden coverage in future.
As reported earlier, Tron [TRX] acquired BitTorrent [BTT] in the month of July last year for an undisclosed amount. Both the teams are working to integrate the 2 decentralized networks on the basis of Bittorrent’s strong P2P sharing technology standard.

In addition, the aforesaid press release states that BitTorrent’s suite of products underpin the largest decentralized peer-to-peer network in the world, with a ostensible hundred million plus active users and installations across one billion devices. Interestingly, it accounts for twenty two percent of upstream and three percent of downstream traffic worldwide.
At the time of reporting, Tron [TRX] is trading at around $0.0344, up over 0.94 percent with a market cap of $2.29 Billion, as per coinmarketcap.
At the time of reporting, BitTorrent [BTT] is exchanging hands at $0.001 a pop and is down by 5.16 percent on the day, as per coinmarketcap.
