Crypto Exchange Binance Presents Lifetime VIP Membership to KYC Leak Sufferers

Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange by 24-hour trading volume, as per coinmarketcap, declared that it will put forward a lifetime VIP membership to all its customers affected by the latest KYC images revelation on the crypto platform.

Binance and KYC Leak

As per the official blog, Binance is actively contacting all potential victims with guidance on privacy protection and restitution, at present. According to the post, the crypto exchange highly suggests affected customers to apply for novel identification documents in their particular area. What’s more, the post further mentions that the exchange will pay damages to the affected customers with a lifetime Binance VIP membership. Interestingly, this will include privileged trading fees, support, and additional services, per the post.

According to several crypto media reports, Binance earlier mentioned that its inquiry of a Know Your Customer data leak that took place at the start of August is still continuing. Notably, Binance’s security and investigations team is ostensibly trying to recognize the starting place of KYC images similar to those leaked by an unrevealed hacker.

Binance And Telegram Channel Leaking KYC Information

The cryptocurrency and digital asset exchange declared the leak on August 7. Binance stated that an unrevealed entity threatened the platform and demanded around three hundred bitcoins in exchange for withholding over ten thousand photographs of supposed Binance Know Your Customer data.

In early August, crypto media outlet theblockcrypto reported that a Telegram channel has been spreading KYC information including IDs, photos, and passports. The channel purportedly claimed that the data belongs to Binance users. As per the report of the theblock, the crypto exchange Binance told the publication that there found out discrepancies when comparing the aforementioned data to the data in the crypto exchange’s system. Interestingly, at the time, Binance even issued an official statement, mentioning that the KYC leak is bogus.
