The largest operator of movie theaters in Thailand, Major Cineplex Group has purportedly permitted some of its customers to acquire tickets with digital assets like BTC.
As per a recent report by local news agency Siam Rath, Major Cineplex has declared the introduction of its digital asset payment pilot project in a move to back innovation and new technologies.
In order to introduce the new payment option, the movie theatre operator has collaborated with local virtual asset exchange Zipmex and digital payment startup RapidZ.
Major Cineplex initiated the new feature at Bangkok’s Major Cineplex Ratchayothin movie theater on 4th March, permitting customers to purchase tickets with BTC by means of RapidZ by scanning a QR code. Major Cineplex anticipates to outspread the pilot to thirty-nine more of its movie theaters across Bangkok by the close of 2021.
The news ostensibly marks the 1st time in history that Thai movie theater has accepted digital asset as payment.
