MyEtherWallet Taking .Crypto Domains Mainstream

MyEtherWallet (MEW) has partnered with Unstoppable Domains to facilitate crypto-focused businesses/users to buy uncensorable decentralized .crypto domains.

With is partnership MyEtherWallet- an Ethereum wallet app and Unstoppable Domains- the decentralized blockchain domain provider/domain registrar– are trying to bring the crypto in the mainstream, as a market force.

Reportedly, MyEtherWallet has become the 1st reseller of .crypto domains in the crypto marketplace.

Now, MyEtherWallet users can buy the blockchain/crypto domains with an extension of .crypto from a much reliable source. Moreover, the custody of the domain would be decentralized, and unlike the traditional domain, centralized rules.

Meaning, the reseller or the specific wallet of the domain would hold the custody. In this case, MEW would control the custody of the domain if the user buys the .crypto domain from it.

As per the information, Unstoppable Domains would have an access to MyEtherWallet app user’s data up to 1million active MEW users as its target audience.

The Unstoppable Domains is exposing the audience to the new system, which has designed to make the payment system simpler. Thus, buyers of .crypto domains do not need to use the awkward 35 alphanumeric addresses which are associated with the cryptocurrency wallets. The .crypto domain purchasers need to associate their domain with MEW/cryptocurrency wallet, which can further allow them to use minimal addresses such as “your name.crypto” while requesting for payments.

The whole process is feasible via Opera Browser- integrated by Unstoppable Domains and launched on Google Chrome extension.

Co-founder of Unstoppable Domains, Brad Kam, mentioned about company’s further plans and indicated to make more crypto wallet partners. Kam believes that blockchain domains would be best accessible via crypto wallets as they can offer purchase services to the people to increase more adoption along with tools for buying crypto.

“This integration shows that wallets are becoming much more than just places to store crypto – they are becoming portals to access blockchain products and services.”

Brian Norton, MyEtherWallet COO, said that as a .crypto registrar, MEW gives its users “an easy option for engaging with the decentralized web.”
